Our Location

altWOI has a new international campus based in Barking Riverside, at the heart of the Thames Valley Regeneration region to the south of the London borough  of Barking and Dagenham (see map below). Here the campus provides a service both to students and local companies. The latter includes a large local Transport and Logistics industry and growing recycling and eco-industries. Just a mile from the campus is the site of the planned Sustainable Industries Business Park.

This location helps us network with industry and bridge the divide between higher education and the real training needs of industry and offer students real life/work experience

The surrounding area is the largest regeneration and redevelopment site in Western Europe (see youtube video link below) and this project is based on a unique Green vision: for example the ambition is to create London’s largest public park for over a century. The park will be capable of attracting one million visitors a year.

Much of the area has been identified by the London Ecology Unit as a Site of Metropolitan Importance in nature conservation terms. This has been taken into account in the formulation of policies and proposals for the area and, in particular, a number of areas have been specially protected. Within any development of the site the Council will aim to safeguard the most viable ecological components of Barking Reach and will provide for nature conservation as part of the development.

altClose by is a major innovation- the Sustainable Industries Park which centres on environmental sustainability and involves transforming the currently fragmented and under-developed 142 hectare industrial site at Dagenham Dock into an exemplar park for emerging technologies operating in the field of sustainable resources and energy technology. The aim is to make the park wholly self-sustainable and to develop an industrial symbiosis over time, where businesses use each other’s by-products and share resources.
