Advanced diploma and PGD in Environmental Studies

Overview of the programme
Entry to this course can be at diploma level for those with no previous qualifications or Masters degree level for experienced professionals and/or those with an environment related basic degree.

The programme is intended primarily for those who are working in or aspire to work in an environment related position. It focuses on underpinning knowledge and practical skills in environmental management or conservation. The course is integrated into key work objectives, targets and projects and either be achieved as a stand-alone programme or as the first year of a University Masters programme.

Course Structure

Students are provided with a modular approach to achieving skills and knowledge in areas relevant to their own industry or function of management. Work-focused subject matter includes:

  1. Managing Environmental Aspects and Impacts,
  2. Strategic Environmental Management,
  3. Leading and Managing Change,
  4. Planning for sustainability,
  5. Law and compliance issues,
  6. Sustainable development (international and European)
  7. Environmental management (incorporating air pollution, environmental risk management, and other EM areas)
  8. Options in research and project-work: conservation: countryside management, agriculture, arboriculture, recycling and green technologies


Entry requirements
This unique course requires you to be in a suitable environment management or planning role and for the masters level a good honours degree or environment studies qualification.

Duration
Usually 8-10 months for the Advanced Diploma and 12 months for the Masters degree but early achievement of work-based objectives will reduce this time.

Costs
£600 for the Advanced Diploma and £900 for the PGC/Masters (UK/EU students); international students- £3500 per year but this would may be combined with a another major course
